Bridal Sizing

Bridal sizing can be a totally new concept for brides and can also be really frustrating. Typically, your bridal size will be approximately 2 sizes up from your standard dress size. Why? Honestly, I don’t know who came up with this ridiculous idea, but if I ever find out, we can all go protest outside their house. I think I heard once that it has something to do with the bridal industry starting in Europe and then when it made its way to the US nothing changed with the sizing. But anywho….

We carry samples in sizes 10 - 30. If you are a size 2, you may be thinking “Great. They don’t have any dresses for me.” That’s not true! We will clip all of our brides into the gowns as needed to give them the feel for how the dress will fit when it is ordered in their size. You’d be amazed by the magic a few industrial grade clips can wield. Our gowns can be ordered in sizes 00 - 40+. Almost all of our designers can accomodate custom sizing when needed!

Once you find your frock, we will take your measurements to determine which size is best for you. The size we choose may not be a perfect fit when it arrives, but it will be the closest size on the size chart to your measurements. We typically order the gowns slightly big, because a dress can almost ALWAYS be taken in, but cannot always be let out. Then a talented seamstress will be able to tailor the gown to fit you just how you’d like!

Also keep in mind that every designer’s size chart is different. A 12 for one brand may be a 16 for another or an XL for another. Always remember you are BEAUTIFUL, these silly numbers do not change that. Measurements and sizing are just how we make sure we order a dress that is right for you!
